Seven sunflowers are arranged in a tall, slightly-rounded clear glass vase a little less than halfway-filled with water. The stems create a crisscross pattern as some lean left and others right. Radiant yellow petals wisp every-which-way around big brown center disks. Several petals graze the upper edge of the canvas. A short terra-cotta stoneware cider jug to the right of the vase balances out the height of the flowers. In front of the vase, two shiny red apples lavish the scene with more rich color. A piece of white cloth spread out on the reddish-brown tabletop sets off the flower stalks, the apples and the jug.

In the background, a strip of purplish-blue floor meets up with an expanse of light-blue wall whose textured brushstrokes convey a sense of pulsating luminosity.
